Srinagar: Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, on Wednesday revealed that Jammu and Kashmir had reported a total export value of Rs 42.12 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24 in software, IT-enabled services, and automobile sectors.

Speaking in the Parliament, Prasada said that the data pertained to software, IT-enabled services, and automobile exports from the region for the fiscal year 2023-24. “For Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) registered units, Jammu & Kashmir reported a total export value of ₹41.93 crore. This figure reflects the contribution of the state’s growing IT sector to India’s overall software export performance,” he added.

In the automotive sector, Jammu & Kashmir’s exports were minimal, he said, adding that the export value of auto components and parts stood at just Rs 0.02 crore, while motor vehicles and cars accounted for Rs 0.17 crore. The figures highlight the relatively small contribution of the region to the country’s automobile export sector—(KNO)
