Srinagar; In a significant boost to Kashmir’s rich artistic heritage, eight traditional crafts have been successfully registered under the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. This milestone is expected to provide global recognition and economic benefits to artisans involved in these crafts.
The crafts that have received the GI tag include:

Kashmir Namda – Traditional felted wool rugs known for their intricate embroidery.

Kashmir Gabba – Handcrafted rugs made from recycled wool with vibrant patterns.

Kashmir Willow Bat – Internationally renowned cricket bats crafted from Kashmir willow wood.

Kashmir Tweed – A fine woolen fabric used for high-quality winter wear.

Crewel – A specialized embroidery technique with unique floral motifs.

Kashmir Chain Stitch – Handcrafted needlework known for its elaborate designs.
