JKNC denies reports of Farooq Abdullah’s talks with BJP, Calls it ‘propaganda’

Srinagar, Feb 11: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has strongly refuted reports suggesting that party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah has been engaged in discussions with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership in Delhi.

Responding to a report published by a Srinagar based newspaper, JKNC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq dismissed the claims as “misinformation” and accused the publication of “pushing propaganda.”

“Dr. Farooq Abdullah was in Mumbai, not in Delhi. The newspaper that carried the report of him joining hands with the BJP is serving propaganda. They should desist from spreading misinformation,” Sadiq said in a statement on Saturday.

The newspaper report had claimed that Dr. Farooq Abdullah had been in Delhi for the past four days, allegedly holding discussions with BJP leaders amid tensions within the ruling NC-Congress coalition in J&K. The report further suggested that the delay in cabinet expansion and Congress’s reluctance to formally join the government had pushed NC towards the BJP in pursuit of its key electoral promise—restoration of J&K’s statehood.
