SCERT-Kashmir Division launches three key workshops for educators

Srinagar: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kashmir Division, inaugurated three workshops today.

Despite the winter chill, educators from across the region gathered with enthusiasm to participate in this transformative initiative, a statement issued to Ziraat Times said.

Speaking on the occasion, Roshan Lal, Joint Director, SCERT-Kashmir, remarked, “Even the biting cold cannot deter the dedication of our educators who are here to drive positive change in our education system.”

The workshops, running concurrently, focus on three critical areas: administrative efficiency, English language teaching, and soft skills development. Each workshop aims to address pressing needs in the education sector and equip participants with the tools to implement lasting improvements.

Workshop 1: Administrative and Financial Norms

The workshop on Administrative and Financial Norms is designed to empower School Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) with enhanced financial and administrative skills. It covers a range of topics, including the General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017 and Public Financial Management System (PFMS) operations, providing a comprehensive resource handbook. Shri Roshan Lal emphasized, “Effective administration is not just about following procedures; it is about building the backbone of educational excellence through strategic leadership.”

Workshop 2: English Language Teaching

The second workshop focuses on redefining English language instruction to align with contemporary global standards. Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas noted, “English today is more than a subject—it is a gateway to global opportunities.” The workshop blends traditional teaching methodologies with modern pedagogical innovations, aiming to equip students with the linguistic skills required to succeed in an interconnected world.

Workshop 3: Soft Skills Development

The third workshop highlights the importance of soft skills in vocational education and overall personal effectiveness. “Technical knowledge alone is not enough; it must be complemented by strong interpersonal and communication skills,” said Shri Roshan Lal. This workshop focuses on fostering well-rounded individuals who are equipped to navigate diverse professional environments.

A Unified Vision for Educational Transformation

These workshops reflect SCERT-Kashmir’s commitment to advancing the core objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. By prioritizing administrative efficiency, pedagogical excellence, and holistic skill development, the initiatives aim to address the evolving demands of education in Jammu & Kashmir, the statement stated.

Participants from all ten districts of Kashmir are engaged in this intensive five-day program, which combines theoretical insights with practical tools for immediate implementation. “We are not just attending workshops; we are contributing to the future of education in Kashmir,” commented one of the participants.

Prof. Manhas described the synchronized launch of these workshops as a step toward “the trinity of educational transformation.” SCERT-Kashmir’s efforts underscore its dedication to setting new benchmarks for educational quality, ensuring that the region’s students and educators are prepared to meet the challenges of the future.
