Jammu: The Crime Branch (CB) has filed a final chargesheet in a multi-crore misappropriation case in Channi, Jammu, after successfully recovering the entire misappropriated amount and completing the investigation.
On July 19, 2022, FIR No. 118/2022 under sections 420, 406, 408, and 109 IPC was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat, Jammu, following a written complaint by the Executive Director of Jamkash Vehicleads Pvt. Ltd. The complaint alleged that the accused, Sheraz Mir, son of Mohd Bashir of Shant Nagar, Janipur, Jammu, while working as an accountant for Jamkash Vehicleads, had committed criminal breach of trust and cheating. Mir was accused of transferring Rs 1.32 crores from the company’s funds into his accounts and investing the money in online betting.
The accused was arrested, and Rs 22 lakh of the misappropriated amount was recovered. A preliminary chargesheet was filed by the district police before the court. However, with a significant portion of the misappropriated funds yet to be recovered, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch (Economic Offenses Wing) Jammu on July 13, 2023, for a deeper investigation.
The Crime Branch accelerated the probe, analyzing the accused’s bank accounts and conducting raids in Indore and Delhi. These efforts resulted in the recovery of the remaining Rs 1.10 crores, marking a significant achievement.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, commended the investigating team for their commendable work in recovering the entire misappropriated amount and completing the investigation promptly.
The final chargesheet in FIR No. 118/2022 under sections 406 and 408 IPC has been filed before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate (Passenger Tax Shops & Establishments Act), Jammu. The recovered amount of Rs 1.32 crores has been returned to the complainant following proper legal procedures. (ANB)
