New Kashmir Fruit Association leadership takes oath of office

Srinagar: Bashir Ahmad Basheer has taken the oath of office as President of The New Kashmir Fruit Association, Fruit Marketing Complex Parimpora Srinagar, during a formal oath ceremony held on 21st November 2024.

The oath ceremony of the newly elected Executive Body, including the President, Office Bearers, and Working Body Members, took place today in the central meeting hall of the Association. The event witnessed the participation of a majority of Association members, officials told Ziraat Times. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Maulana Mohammad Ashraf, Imam Sahib of Jamia Masjid Sharif Fruit Marketing Complex Parimpora. This was followed by a congratulatory speech (spasenama) delivered by Nasir Maqbool Watali, who extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bashir Ahmad Basheer and his team on their successful election.

The oath-taking was conducted in phases. In the first phase, Bashir Ahmad Basheer was administered the oath of office by Nasir Maqbool Watali. Subsequently, the Office Bearers and Working Body Members took their oaths. The elected members include:

  • Vice-President: Anil Kumar
  • General Secretary: Mohammad Ayoub Bhat
  • Joint Secretary: Abdul Majid Reshi
  • Member Accountant: Mohammad Ashfaq Jalla
  • Chairman Transport Committee: Ali Mohammad Reshi
  • Working Body Members: Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Fayaz Ahmad Kullo, Mehraj-ud-Din Matta, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Zubair Ahmad Wani, and Mohammad Qayoom

However, Mohammad Shahid Chowdhery, Omer Jan, and Abdul Hamid Dar were unable to attend the ceremony due to personal reasons.

The event was marked by a celebratory atmosphere, with participants in high spirits. Photographs were taken of the newly elected officials, capturing the joyous occasion. Ali Mohammad Khanday, President of the Employees Union of Fruit Mandi Parimpora, garlanded Bashir Ahmad Basheer and his team as a gesture of goodwill and celebration.

In his address, Bashir Ahmad Basheer expressed his sincere gratitude to the Association members for re-electing him as President with an overwhelming majority. He assured the members that the newly elected body would prioritize resolving all issues faced by the Mandi. He also pledged to transform the Fruit Marketing Complex into a more attractive and business-friendly environment. “Insha Allah, this complex will see significant improvement, and all challenges will be addressed through collective discussions,” he stated. A special meeting will soon be convened to discuss the priorities and plans for the Mandi.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Bashir Ahmad Basheer extended heartfelt thanks to Acting President Nasir Maqbool Watali and Election Officer Reyaz Ahmad Rather, along with his team, for conducting the election process in a disciplined and peaceful manner. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Association employees for their dedication throughout the election process.

Once again, Bashir Ahmad Basheer thanked all members of the Association for their trust and support in re-electing him as President by a significant margin.

  1. Who amongst the elected members is a fruit grower ? In case there is none! should not growers have a good representation in this association? After all they are the backbone of this trade.
