Devender Singh Rana, prominent Jammu politician, passes away

Jammu, Oct 31: Devender Singh Rana, a prominent business tycoon of Jammu and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician, has passed away late Thursday night in Delhi NCR.

Born in 1965, Mr Rana was the founder of JamKash Vehicleades, and was formerly National Conference’s Provincial President and a close confidante of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He had made headlines recently after winning the Nagrota Assembly seat with a record vote margin.

Mr Rana, who originally hails from  Doda district, had secured a degree in Civil Engineering from NIT, Kurukshetra in 1986.

Mr Rana, who besides being a founder of JamKash Vehicleades and owner of TakeOne TV network, was also the brother of Dr Jitender Singh, another prominent BJP leader and a union minister, and had emerged as a major political voice from the Jammu region.

He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and a son.
