Leh, Sept 2, 2024: The Office of the Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh, under the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, has announced an invitation for applications from registered entrepreneurs and progressive farmers. The aim is to provide them with an opportunity to avail themselves of significant subsidies under the Special Development Package (SDP) and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for the year 2024-25, according to an official notification received by Ziraat Times.
The scheme is targeted at individuals and groups engaged in the trade, export, import, and marketing of fresh or dried fruits and fresh flowers. The notice outlines several pilot projects, including:
1. A 75% subsidy on pre-cooling units, amounting to ₹18.75 lakhs per unit with a capacity of 6 metric tons, aimed at individual entrepreneurs.
2. A 75% subsidy on the cost of freighting and transporting fruit crops outside UT Ladakh via air cargo or road, available only to registered farmers, entrepreneurs, or Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
3. A 75% subsidy on the cost of freighting and transporting fresh flowers outside the Union Territory.
4. A 50% subsidy on refrigerated transport vans/containers with a capacity of 9 metric tons, with prorated subsidies for lesser capacities.
Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including possession of a Ladakh Residential Certificate (LRC) and an established office within the district. Applications, along with the necessary documentation, should be submitted within 10 days of the notice’s release.
