Srinagar Airport parking issue resolved; 14 minute parking bar withdrawn: KCCI

Srinagar: In a major development that is set to ease the logistics of tourism stakeholders in Kashmir, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has successfully resolved the pressing issue of airport parking charges for commercial vehicles at the Srinagar airport. This outcome comes after  efforts led by the KCCI under the guidance of Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, a KCCI office bearer said.

Recently, the introduction of a 14-minute exit policy at the Srinagar International Airport had caused considerable inconvenience to those involved in the tourism sector. Under this policy, commercial vehicles were subject to parking charges if they did not exit the airport premises within 14 minutes of entering. Given the operational challenges faced by these vehicles, especially during peak tourist seasons, this rule had raised concerns among tourism operators, drivers, and other stakeholders.

Effective immediately, the previously enforced 14-minute exit policy has been withdrawn. Under the new regulations, commercial vehicles will now enjoy a 30-minute window to exit the toll gate at the airport without incurring any parking charges.
