KCCI and GJEPC discuss Kashmir’s gem & jewellery sector

Srinagar, July 18:  The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) held an  interaction at Hotel Grand Lalit. The meeting, led by KCCI President Javed Ahmad Tenga and GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah, focused on the development of the gem and jewellery sector, skill development, and the participation of Kashmiri jewellers in GJEPC-organized exhibitions and fairs.

The KCCI delegation highlighted the world-famous blue sapphire found in the high-altitude mines of the Bhaderwah-Kishtwar area. In response, the GJEPC offered free exhibition space for Kashmiri jewellers, an offer that KCCI accepted with gratitude, a press statement issued to Ziraat Times stated.

KCCI plans to formulate an action plan in consultation with local jewellers to maximize this new cooperation.

GJEPC also presented its national and international activities, skill development institutes, and information on precious and semi-precious stones. They offered scholarships and concessional admissions to various courses across the country, enhancing opportunities for skill development in the region.

Both organizations expressed mutual appreciation for the collaboration, with KCCI President Javed Ahmad Tenga and GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah exchanging thanks for the opportunity to meet and discuss these important initiatives.

Senior Vice President Ashaq Shangloo, Secretary General Faiz Bakshi, and Past President Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo were among the notable attendees.
