Srinagar, 29 July: The Kashmir Hotel & Restaurant Owners Association (KHAROA), previously known as Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHARA) & Kashmir Hotel & Restaurant Owners Federation (KHAROF/KHAROF COMBINE), has officially announced the schedule for the election of the First Managing Committee for the term 2024-26. According to a statement issued to Ziraat Times, this significant election will take place on 31st August 2024, from 11 AM to 5 PM, at the Administrative Office of the Association, located at Khidmat Complex Phase 2nd Regal Lane, Residency Road, Srinagar. Voting will be conducted via a secret ballot system.
Key Election Details:
1. Eligibility and Nomination Process:
– Only one representative per establishment is eligible to contest in the election.
– Candidates must clear all outstanding dues up to 31st March 2025 by 9th August 2024, 5 PM.
– Members affiliated with or having membership in any other hotel/restaurant association in Kashmir are not eligible to contest as per Article 16(iii) of the Association’s Constitution.
– Nomination forms will be available from 29th July 2024, and must be filed by 9th August 2024, 5 PM.
2. Voting Eligibility:
– Members must clear outstanding dues for the financial year ending 2024-25 by 24th August 2024.
– Members who fail to clear dues by 31st March 2025 will not be eligible to vote.
3. Election Identification Cards:
– All members will be issued Election ID Cards. In case of loss or damage, replacements can be requested in writing three days before the polling date.
4. Election Timeline:
– Nomination Form Issuance: 29th July 2024
– Last Date for Dues Payment: 9th August 2024, 5 PM
– Nomination Filing Deadline: 9th August 2024, 5 PM
– Withdrawal of Nominations: 14th August 2024, 5 PM
– Scrutiny of Nominations: 16th August 2024, 5 PM
– Issuance of Election ID Cards: 24th August 2024, 5 PM
– Polling Date: 31st August 2024, 11 AM to 5 PM
– Vote Counting: 2nd September 2024

– In case of disruptions such as Hartal/Bandh, the election activities will be rescheduled.
– Each member is entitled to an Election Identification Card, essential for voting.
