PHAAG Development Forum meets Sheetal Nanda; presents 15-point development demands

Srinagar, June 27: A delegation of PHAAG Development Forum led by its Chairman Dr G.M Rather met with Commissioner Secretary Sheetal Nanda ( IAS) in a public Darbar which was held in Banquet hall Srinagar today.

According to a statement issued to Ziraat Times, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and officers from various departments present in the Darbar were directed by the Commissioner Secretary to take a serious note of demands of PHAAG and address them on priority. The members of the Delegation gave a very powerful presentation on various issues and asked the government to meet the demands of the area on priority, the statement added.

The following development demands were presented on the occasion:

1. Transfer of roads back to RnB from SMC in Rural Srinagar to upkeep and maintenance.

3. Settting up of a Government Degree College in PHAAG (53 Kanals of land have been already identified for it)

4. 50 bedded AYUSH hospital building located at Harwan to be made functional.

5. Sharab Koel road should be upgraded from Brein to Harwan to decongest the main road.

6. Construction of a new bridge at Sarband , given that the previous bridge was constructed in year 1966 and it’s no more fit to use.

7. Road widening from Habak to Saura via Malbagh and widening of Hazratbal-Harwan via Burzhama road including Danihama-Nagbal road via Khimber.

8. Demarcation of Kah Charai land espicially at Astan Marg Dara .

9. Construction of state of art sports stadium in Phaag area.

10. Tourism infrastructure development on eco friendly lines .

11. Parking facility and lavatory block to be established at Shalimar garden.

12. In order to do away with scarcity of water, the delegation suggested establishing water supply project with Nala Sindh as source .

13. Setting up of a Fruit Mandi in PHAAG given that this area peocuces and supplies large quantity of cherries, strawberries , apples , other fruits and large agri products.

14.Macadamization of all the roads in Phaag area to be conducted on war footing basis.

15. The residents of New-Theed, Barji and other localities were shifted from Golf course Srinagar and from Dachigam National Park. The ownership rights were not given to these displaced people unfortunately.

Other members of the Delegation who were a part of deliberations are Dr (Prof) G.A.Bhat, Peer Bilal , Farooq Kuthoo and Parvez Ahmed Dar, Ashraf Mir.
