Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has  achieved another milestone by securing its 11th patent of the year 2024, bringing the total number of patents acquired over the past four years to 26.

“This accomplishment is a testament to the university’s commitment to innovation and aligns with its vision of becoming an innovation-lead Farm University”, Nazir Ganaie, Vice Chancellor, of the University, told Ziraat Times.

The latest patent, titled “SHALIMAR HIVE-3 (SH-3),” has been granted to Dr. Muneer Sofi. The patent application number is 202111054661, and it was filed on November 26, 2021. The patent certificate was issued on May 30, 2024, as per the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970, by the Patent Office, Government of India.

Importance of the Patent

The SHALIMAR HIVE-3 (SH-3) represents another advancement in agricultural technology. This invention, if backed by a commercially viable and industrial scale production, is expected to have a substantial impact on beekeeping practices, enhancing productivity and sustainability in this sector.

“SKUAST-K’s vision of becoming an innovation-driven agricultural university is being realized through continuous efforts in research and development. The achievement of securing 26 patents over four years is a clear indicator of the university’s dedication to innovation”, Dr Nazir Ganie said while speaking to Ziraat Times.
