KCCI charts 2024 course at 89th Annual General Meeting & EGM

Srinagar, Dec 30: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) held its 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday here. The event, attended by a considerable number of KCCI members, Organisational Heads, and special invitees, saw key discussions and strategic planning for the upcoming year.

Focus on progress and collaboration

The President, Javed Ahmad Tenga, welcomed the participants and outlined the Chamber’s priorities for the year ahead. He emphasized the importance of working closely with the government, industry stakeholders, and other organizations to address the challenges faced by businesses in Kashmir and promote economic growth.

Record engagement with Government officials

The Secretary General, Faiz Bakshi, presented the Annual Administration Report, highlighting the Chamber’s activities, events, and meetings held during the period February 2023 to December 2023. A notable achievement was a record nine meetings with the Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, Union Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentary Standing Committees, high ranking central and State Government officials. This demonstrates the Chamber’s proactive approach in advocating for the interests of its members and contributing to policy discussions, he said.

Modernizing the Articles of Association

The KCCI also held an EGM to discuss and adopt alterations/amendments to its Articles of Association. These changes were aimed at bringing the Articles in sync with the Indian Companies Act, 2013, with its up-to-date amendments. The members unanimously adopted the proposed amendments, recognizing the need to keep the Articles of Association updated in the face of changing times, particularly with the advancements brought about by technology and Artificial Intelligence.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Chairman J&K Bank, Baldev Prakash; The Commissioner SMC/ CEO -SMC, Athar Amir Khan; Director Handicrafts & Handloom Mehmood Ahmad Shah; and senior officials of Administration and J&K Bank. Notable participants from the trade included Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, Bashir A. Bhat (President KHAROF),  Mauzam Bakshi (President KHARA), Mr. Jaan Mohammad (UTTA),  Bashir Kanu (SKT&C), President PICA Ajaz Qureshi, Shahid Kamili (FCIK), Nasir Shah (IATO),  Shameem Shah (TAFI), Anwar Mir (President TAAK/ATOAK), Rauf Tramboo, Zahoor Qari,  Athar Yamen (TAAI), and Anwar Mir (ADTOI).

Leadership and Teamwork

The KCCI Senior Vice President Ashiq Hussain Shangloo, Junior Vice President Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi, Jt. Secretary General Umar Nazir Tibetbaqal, and Treasurer Zubair Mahajan also graced the dais, along with the KCCI Executive Committee Members.
