Srinagar, Nov 4: A delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir, led by A P Vicky Shaw, recently met with the Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry.
During the meeting, they presented comprehensive suggestions to enhance economic prospects and support existing MSMEs in the Kashmir region. Key recommendations included declaring the region a Special Economic Zone, providing marketing support for MSMEs, and implementing 25% of public procurement through MSMEs.
Additionally, they emphasized the need for measures like an enhanced Micro and Small Enterprise Facilitation Council, a Delayed Payment Monitoring System, and a Revival and Rehabilitation Scheme for sick MSMEs. The delegation also stressed the importance of streamlining the entrepreneurial process through the effective implementation of a Single Window Clearance system.
Parliamentarians in the Committee expressed appreciation for the innovative recommendations and promised to endorse them for the region’s growth. The Chamber delegation expressed gratitude to the Committee for the opportunity and affirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts for the betterment of the industry and MSMEs in J&K.
