Srinagar, Jan 29: Tosamidan Development Fourm Kashmir (TDFK) Monday welcomed the appointment of advocate Nadeem Qadari, a prominent environmental lawyer and activist, as a member of revamped UT Forest Development Agency.
While hailing the government decision, TDFK spokesperson Sheikh Maqbool said his appointment will help the National Mission for Green India in getting redressal of the issues on faster pace as he has in depth knowledge at grassroots level.
Forest Development Agency can play an important role in National Afforestation Programmes by protecting and conservation of natural resources through the committee constituted by the government of UT Jammu and kashmir. It is believed that the activities like implementation of centrally sponsored afforestation schemes, other benfeficers orientated activities like agro forestry, avenue plantation, steps for value addition and marketing of produce, environment education and to address socio- economic needs of the people will be among the priorities for the agency.
