J&K Group of Concerned Citizens urges govt to take steps to prevent attacks on Kashmiri Pandits

Srinagar, Aug 17: The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC) J&K, comprising retired civil servants and prominent citizens from Jammu and Kashmir, has strongly condemned the targetted killing in Shopian of a member of minority pandit community, Sunil Kumar Bhat and injuries to his brother Pintu Kumar and sought condign punishment to the culprits.

In a statement issued here today , the GCC said “any innocent killings are not only inhuman but also against the tenets of all religions”.

The GCC appealed the concerned authorities in the UT Government to take suitable steps to prevent such targetted killings in Kashmir which have repeatedly occured over the past few months.

The GCC has prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, extending its deepest sympathies to them. ” Our prayers for speedy recovery of the injured Pintu Kumar , brother of deceased Sunil Kumar Bhat”, the statement adds.
