Congress announces presidential election on October 17

New Delhi, Aug 28: The election for Congress president post is set to be held on October 17. Counting will be done on 19th October.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body, met on Sunday to approve the schedule for the election of the next AICC president.

Here’s the schedule for election to the post of Congress President:

• September 22: Notification will be issued
• September 24-September 30: Date of filing of nomination
• October 1: Date of scrutiny
• October 8:Last fate of withdrawal
• October 17: Election day
• October 19: Date of counting and declaration of result (if needed)

The Congress had announced in October last year that the election of the new party president would be held between August 21 and September 20 this year.
