Srinagar, March 15: Srinagar-Sharjah flight is all set to resume yet again, with the first flight to leave Srinagar for Sharjah on 16th March, 2022.
Officials of two airlines told Ziraat Times that as of now it was not certain how many flights would operate per week, however, resumption is happening from Wednesday.
Pertinently, National Conference leader and Srinagar member parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah had raised the matter in the parliament on Monday, for which he got the assurances from the union civil aviation minister on the floor of the house that the flights will be resumed soon.
The resumption of Srinagar-Sharjah flights is being received with jubilation in Kashmir, especially the international travelers and J&K’s expat community in UAE, which had found the direct Srinagar-Sharjah flight quite convent in cutting time of travel through indirect destinations.
KCCI and other trade bodies have expressed their satisfaction with the resumption of the services.
Meanwhile, Kashmir’s business, professional and student communities have appealed the Imran Khan government in Pakistan to reconsider the overflight embargo on Srinagar-Sharjah flights to help sustainability for the flight.
“If the Pakistani government will lift the embargo for using its air space this flight that will bring a big relief to travelers of J&K, because that cuts further time and financial resources. We really hope the Pakistan government to reconsider their decision for the sake of economic wellbeing of people of J&K”, said Iftikhar Khan, a student from Srinagar pursuing his masters in the UK.
