Plantation drive held at Cherry Park, Nigeen Lake

Srinagar: In view of the two important days 21st March and 22nd March in terms of creating awareness about saving natural resources, a plantation drive was held at Cherry Park, Nigeen Lake, Srinagar.

“Marking the International Forest Day & the other World Water Day was a wonderful experience yesterday at Cherry Park, West Nigeen lake, Srinagar. Highly thankful to Department of Tourism Kashmir for organising a plantation drive event in the park yesterday in collaboration with Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) & Bilaliya Educational Institute (BEI)”, Manzoor Wangnoo, businessman and environmentalist said in a media statement today.

“Dr. Ahsanul Haq, Deputy Director Tourism was the Special Guest at the occasion who inaugurated the plantation drive by planting trees in the park followed by Ms. Shaista Ji, Incharge Nigeen, members of NTTA and students of Bilaliya Educational Institute. Dr. Ahsansul Haq spoke about the importance of trees and environment & Dr. Shaista Ji encouraged students to keep track and take care of the trees planted by them. Students of the school were very enthusiastic in participating the plantation drive”, the statement added.

“Highly thankful to Dr. Ahsnaul Haq for gracing the occasion, Ms. Shaista Ji for the cooperation, members of NTTA especially Gulam Muhammad Riyaz Latief Abdul Rahman and others, students and teachers of BEI for participating in yesterday’s event. Let’s promote going green”, he further said.
