TAAK concerned over frequent flight cancellations at Sgr Airport

Srinagar, Jan 5: Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) has expressed concern over the mass cancellation of flights at Srinagar airport.
In a statement to Ziraat Times, TAAK President Farooq A Kuthoo said few inches of snowfall early morning has disrupted air traffic continuously for two days which is a cause of concern.
TAAK President said such mass cancellation of flights have happened in the previous winter seasons also causing a lot of inconveniences to the travelers and huge losses to the Valley’s travel and hospitality sector.
“It seems that the government has not learned from the past experiences. There is huge distress among the travelers who are stranded here and at New Delhi due to flight cancellations,” said TAAK President.
TAAK has urged the Civil Aviation Ministry, defense ministry, Jammu, and Kashmir Government for the installation of CAT-III ILS system to overcome flight cancellations due to bad weather.
Notably, the CAT-III facility is a radio navigation system that provides guidance to aircraft to approach a runway at night or in bad weather. With the facility, there are fewer chances for flight cancellations in bad weather.
TAAK further appealed to the administration to open JKTDC properties for the stranded tourists here and provide them all assistance
