Shahr-e Khas traders seek interest waiver for lockdown days

Srinagar, Jan 24: Shahr-e-Khas Traders And Manufacturers Coordination Committee has sought interest waive off on bank loans during the period of lockdown imposed in Kashmir.

In a statement to Ziraat Times, the Traders Coordination Committee said they are concerned about the hardships confronted by the business community.

“We request the government to waive off interest on advances for 3 days during which weekend lockdown remains in force. This move will save our economy which is already dented,” the Committee said.

“Banks operating in our areas are closed,  many of their employees have tested positive for the virus, therefore, it becomes imperative upon the government to waive off interest,” they said.

President of the Committee,  Bashir Ahmed Kenu, Senior vice president, Arif Wani, General Secretary Aijaz Pampori, Chief spokesperson Javaid Habib also urged the traders to ensure compliance of COVID appropriate behaviour at their workplaces to keep the virus at bay.
