Srinagar, Jan 7: Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has expressed concern over the rising cases of Covid in the Valley and urged the people to follow SOPs to avoid any lockdown.
In a statement, CCIK President Tariq Rashid Ghani said traders and shopkeepers can’t afford any restrictions or lockdown as the economy is already at low ebb.
He said people need to co-operate with the local administration and follow all the guidelines especially at religious places, health institutions, educational institutions and in the markets to help curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Besides, the CCIK said, government should also increase testing at Srinagar airport and on highways to ensure no Covid positive case enters the Valley.
Ghani also urged the administration to create more awareness among the masses about following all the guidelines.
“Govt should also press in more man power at various check points for rapid testing and vaccination,” he said.
In this regard, the CCIK said it would organise mask distribution and awareness program from Monday at various places to create awareness among the masses.
The chamber urged the traders and shopkeepers to allow only those wearing masks for shopping and sanitize their premises daily.
