Cooking gas rates hiked by Rs 25; inflation continues upward trend

New Delhi: Non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have been increased by ₹ 25.50 across the four metro cities on July 1, 2021. With effect from July 1, the price of non-subsidised LPG will be ₹ 834.50 per cylinder (14.2 kilograms) each in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, according to Indian Oil Corporation’s website – iocl.com. The prices of LPG cylinder is the highest in Chennai, at ₹ 850.50. With the latest hike, LPG has become prices had gone up by₹ 140 per 14.2-kg cylinder in the last six months.

Indian Oil, the country’s largest fuel retailer, supplies LPG cylinders under the brand Indane.

The price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been increases by ₹ 76.

The hike in the LPG comes at a time when petrol and diesel rates are touching record highs across the country. Petrol prices have already crossed the ₹ 100 mark in Mumbai and are inching towards the 3-figure mark in the other metro cities.

Meanwhile, the ATF prices have been increased by ₹ 2,354/kl and the new price in Delhi stands at 68,262/kL.

Comments As of now, the government subsidises 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilograms each per household every year. Customers have to make any additional purchases of LPG cylinders at the market price. The amount of the subsidy provided by the government on the annual quota of 12 refills varies from month to month. The subsidy is determined broadly by factors such as foreign exchange rates, crude oil.
