Transfers in Geology-Mining Dept vindication of our stand: Bhushan Parimoo

Jammu: Bhushan Parimoo, President Awareness Forum, on Monday said that the recent transfer of the District Mineral Officers in the Department of Geology and Mining issued by the Commissioner/ Secretary to the government Manoj. K. Diwedi has once again vindicated the stand of the Forum that the extraction of the minor minerals such as sand, bajri, boulders etc from the rivers of J&K was being carried under the supervision of those who are not competent as per rules to do the job.
In a statement to Ziraat Times, Mr Parimoo said “Whereby rivers, streams and nallahs are subjected to unscientific extraction causing irreparable damage to these fresh water flowing channels, the loss caused is irreparable”.
“Scientists have been giving warning or for long time to heed that insatiable appetite for sand is harming the environment, accelerating climate change and even fueling social conflict. To meet human development needs without overtaxing the planet’s natural resources, scientists suggest humans cannot make and produce these minor minerals once lost, these get lost forever:, Mr Parimoo said.
“In case J&K UT is short of competent personnel as per the rules, then government should consider to bring trained and relevant personnel on deputation, in order to conduct business in a scientific manner for which there are ample guidelines”, Ashwani Kumar, Press Secretary, said.
