Sub Tehsil Magam, 30 kms away from disrict Kupwara and almost 15 kms away from sub disrict Handwara, has been a tale of neglect by the Kupwara disrict adminstration, political leaders and also the media faternity.
In 2014, Tarthpora and Villagam, having only the distance of 2 kms, have been upgraded as tehsil headquarters, however, sub tehsil Magam has been neglected due to political considerations. Furthermore, sub tehsil Magam is a huge populated area as well as having abundant land area and is also a big area as compared to other areas of district Kupwara.
The said area, having three govt higher secondaries, but having only 1, 2 streams and resultantly the students of other sreams are compelled to admit their selves in either in Handwara or Sopore. Having no medical block in the area poorer people of the area have to move 20 kms away for making their golden cards, pensions cases, etc.
The whole villages of the Handwara tehsil have been declared downtrodden/backward villages but unfortunately only 2 villages of the tehsil namely Tumpora and Shogpora have been neglected due to which the whole educated youth of the two villages are in deep stress about their future.
Putwari, a small hamlet, which is renewed part of Magam, having a dire need of bridge and road connectivity with Magam.
Keeping in view the above mentioned facts, we the inhabitants of sub tehsil Magam are earnestly requesting our DC Kupwara to kindly try to investigate and understand the topography of the area. That may help us to give our fundamental rights like territorial tehsil medical block, horticulture facilities and also approve Putwari bridge and road connectivity to Magam.
