Srinagar: Federation Chamber of Industries, Kashmir, has raised several issues with the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan during their joint visit to Industrial Estate Lasipora on Friday.

As previously reported, Advisor baser Khan, along with FCIK team, headed by President Shahid Kamli, visited Industrial Estate Lasipora to assess the functioning of various business units there, besides taking stock of their issues and concerns.

Interacting with the unit holders at IGC, Advisor Khan urged upon them
to make the Industrial Growth Centre synonymous with development and growth.

In the statement to Ziraat Times, Ovees Qadir Jamie, FCIK Secretary General, today said the advisor has been apprised about the various developmental works of the Estate & its upgradation. The Advisor also visited the Cold Stores and showed satisfaction with these units, the statement added.

FCIK raised certain issues with regard to the framing of New Industrial Policy & taking stakeholders along while framing the said policy.

“The 2016-27 Industrial Policy is in vogue but the marketing cover provided to industrial sector have been withdrawn. FCIK demands purchase from local industrial sector rather than getting supplies from outside J&K”, the statement added.

“FCIK put forth various demands which includes the new Industrial Policy shall be made favorable to unit holders and he informed that the existing Industrial Policy & related orders shall be kept in force not in abeyance, particularly related to marketing issue as the finance department had issued the order”, the statement said.

“The local industry should be given the price preference by the government and it should purchase from local Industry rather than GeM
portal orders. As recently there has been orders worth crores which has been taken over by outsiders. The pending payments in the departments was turning the unit holders’ accounts NPA. The payment should be released immediately as the government department outstanding to the SSI sector is to the tune of Rs 350 crores”, the statement added.

Jamie said, “Securiisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Securities Interest Act (SARFAESI) is in gross contrast and contradiction to its own commitments with the stressful/NPA turned enterprises has simply endorsed a direction from Union Finance Ministry as any other normal state/UT.”

FCIK has demanded that the order related SARFAESI for taking the assets within 60 days should be kept in abeyance.

The Advisor along with Director Industries & commerce Mr. Mahmod Ahmad & Chief Engineer Ajaz Ahmad interacted with the Industrial Unit holders. The President Industrial Estate Nisar Ahmad put forth various suggestions related to Industrial Estate Lasipora.
