Evolving joint action plan to ensure mask adherence: Mayor Junaid Mattu

Srinagar: With no respite in the spread of coronavirus in Kashmir and the number of daily fatalities, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has taken note of the poor adherence to Covid protocols, especially wearing of masks in Srinagar city.

Junaid Mattu, Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, while taking to Twitter on the matter said, “Have noticed that a large number of people are seen in public places and on public transport without masks. Wearing of face-masks when you step out of your homes is MANDATORY under COVID19 guidelines. We are evolving a joint, multi-department action-plan to enforce adherence.”

Pertinently, with the daily low reporting of Covid19 positive cases and fatalities, medical experts have expressed concern over the growing complacency with regard to following the Covid19 protocols, mainly waring of masks.

There is a general consensus among the top global scientific community that with an effective Covid19 vaccine still some distance away from mass immunization of populations, mask waring could help in slowing down or preventing Covid19 spread.
