Scheme for nursery development to come up in Kashmir soon

Srinagar: Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today convened a meeting of Committee constituted for formulation of scheme for nursery development.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Horticulture, Nursery Registration officer, Sr. Scientist, CITH Srinagar, Empanelled Developers for high density plantation scheme and Nursery growers.

During the course of meeting Director Horticulture elaborated that a separate scheme for nursery development on the basis of subsidy on production per plant will be formulated so as to boost the production of elite planting material from the local nurseries with the use of exotic rootstocks. Director Horticulture assured the nursery growers that every support will be provided for nursery development for production of quality planting material.

Director Horticulture also took a detailed stock of high density plantation programme as an activity to increase the returns manifold. Directions were passed to speed up the implementation of high density plantation programme as per targets allotted to Empanelled Developers so that
fixed targets will be achieved and more and more growers avail benefits of the scheme.

The Developers briefed that identification of areas were almost completed and Plantation will be started during ensuing plantation season.
