  • Congratulations. Agriculture and allied agriculture sector continues to be the foundation of our economy. During my tenure as FCIK Prez, we got tax abolished on import of one day old chicks besides imposing tax on imported poultry by weight. This initiative together with our motivational campaign for setting up of poutry units across the valley worked miraculously and within years we saw substential poultry being produced locallay. Earlier, the Animal Husbandry Department had been successful in making Pulwama district a dairy hub but unfortunately the model could not be replicated in other districts. Despite its decline in contribution of GDP, the sector still holds the key to balance our trade and lead us towards self reliance.
