Fruit Mandi Sopore leaders meet Advisor Khan; seek Bagh-i-Sundri Road development

SRINAGAR, JULY 27: A delegation of the Kashmir Fruit Growers & Dealers Association (KFGDA), Fruit Mandi Sopore, today called on Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan at Civil Secretariat here and apprised him about various issues and demands concerning them at Fruit Mandi Sopore.
The delegation while interacting with the Advisor demanded immediate construction of Bagh i Sundri Road and development of Bagh i Sundri into a Truck yard to avoid traffic jamming during peak fruit season.
They also demanded construction of a fly-over from Bye-Pass to Fruit Mandi Sopore as large number of patients, students, general public and other concerned people get affected by the usual traffic mess around the area.
The delegation further demanded the construction of Kisan Ghar in the Fruit Mandi, besides renovation of existing guest houses there for the buyers coming from the other parts of the country or outside countries like Bangladesh and Nepal.
Furthermore, the delegation demanded allotment of land for construction of Cold Store around Fruit Mandi besides establishment of mechanized car parking.
They also demanded immediate implementation of the Crop Insurance Scheme for the benefit of farmers and fruit growers besides establishment of a soil testing lab facility at Fruit Mandi Sopore.
Advisor Farooq Khan, while interacting with the visiting delegation, maintained that the present LG’s Administration is committed to the upliftment of fruit growers and farmers and in that direction several initiatives have already been implemented by the government for their well being.
The Advisor assured the visiting delegation that all of their issues and concerns will be taken on priority and will be redressed within the shortest possible time.
