Over 98% people above 45 vaccinated in Jammu district

Srinagar: Covid vaccine doses have been administered to around 98 percent persons above 45 years of age in Jammu district in Jammu and Kashmir.

District Magistrate Anshul Garg told news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that around 98 percent of the people above 45 years of age have been vaccinated in Jammu district so far.

The Deputy Commissioner Jammu said that as per government strategy, the district administration in Jammu started vaccination drive for above 45 years of age on April 1, and in around 45 days, around 98 percent people have been covered.

He said that on Sunday, 16 May, a special drive will be launched at all 100 vaccination sites in the district to cover the remaining two per cent of the category who are yet to get the first dose of the vaccination.

He thanked all the health and front line workers who have worked tirelessly to vaccinate 98 percent of the people above 45 years of age.

The District Magisterate Jammu requested people who are yet to get vaccination to come forward and get vaccination at an earliest so that they can keep themselves safe with the Covid-19.

It is pertinent to mention here that around 28 lakh people have been vaccinated so far in J&K which includes around 13.5 lakh from Kashmir division and around 14.5 lakh from Jammu division.
