KCCI elections to be held on April 26

Srinagar: The J&K High Court nominated 6-member committee for Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has notified the election schedule for the 21-member Executive Committee of the business chamber.

According to the notice, polling will be held on 26th of April and the Annual General Meeting will be held on 29th of April. The newly-elected office bearers will assume charge on 30th of April.

Several KCCI members while speaking to Ziraat Times have hailed the announcement of holding the elections under the orders of J&K High Court.

A statement issued today by the committee said that ‘in view of the directions of the Hon’ble High Court dated 23rd of march, 2021, notice is hereby given that election of executive committee of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Inc.) will be held on 26th of April, 2021 from 10.00 A.M upto 5.00 PM. The venue of the polling will be ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Amar Singh Club, Srinagar.”

The result of the election of the members of the executive committee for the year 2020-2021 will be declared on 29th of April, 2021 at 11.00 am at ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Amar Singh Club, Srinagar and thereafter the newly executive members of the executive committee will elect the office bearers, the statement added.

“The members or their representatives who want to stand for election as a member of the executive committee for the next twelve months should communicate their intention in writing to contest the election, to the election committee of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Residency Road, Srinagar by 12th of April, 2021 upto 4.00 PM. The candidates who desire to withdraw their nominations can do so by 14th of April, 2021 upto 4.00 PM.”

“As per the articles of association of KCCI no member of the KCCI can stand or nominate any person, for election to the executive committee unless the subscription for the current year is paid in accordance with clause 11 (j) of the constitution. During the election all sops in regard to the covid-19 pandemic issued by the government will be followed”.
