After uproar, Revenue Dept increases Land Registration slots from 25 to 42 per day

JAMMU: Following public uproar about the inconvenience and time consumption due to inadequate time slots for land registration in Revenue Offices, the Revenue Department, in consultation with Inspector General of Registrations and Software Development Unit, NIC Pune, has made arrangements in NGDRS Software and has increased the number of registration slots from 25 to 42 per day for each Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) with effect from 6th of April 2021.

According to a public notice received by Ziraat Times, issued by Revenue Department here today, the software has been tailored to enable the SROs re-schedule the registration slots of the desirous citizens.

Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir Government had notified Registration fee at the rate of 1.2 per cent of the amount of loan secured for registration of mortgage deeds last month. Taking benefit of the facility provided, there was sudden built up of queue for registration of mortgage deeds numbering more than 1200.

Earlier, the department had divided the jurisdictions of heavy load SROs, adding more SROs to the registration system, shifted the data to the respective jurisdictional SROs, increased slots from 20 to 25 in heavy load SROs and also notified Saturdays as working days, provision of re-scheduling, as a result of which, the waiting period was brought down to a week at the most.
