ZT WEATHER FORECAST

SRINAGAR, FEB 20: A longish wet weather spell, consisting of a mix of rains and snowfall, is likely to begin in J&K from Monday.

Multiple weather data analyzed by Ziraat Times indicates that several cloud systems are likely to result in precipitation conditions across parts of Kashmir valley, Chenab valley, Pirpanjal valley, Jammu plains and Kargil starting from this Monday, and the wet spell is likely to persist until 2nd March.

Areas like Gurez, Keran, Upper Kupwara, Upper Lolab, Sonamarg, Upper Ganderbal, Gund, Harmukh and surrounding areas, Mahadev peak and surrounding areas, Kolohai glacier and surrounding areas are likely to receive heavy snow yet again – between one to three feet.

Karewa areas, where horticulture and agriculture-related activities have already begun, farmers are advised to plan their activities factoring in more rains as well as snowfall during this spell.

During this period, there are going to be several intermittent spells of rains and snowfall both in mountains and karewa lands. While most of the plains of Kashmir valley, including capital Srinagar, are likely to experience intermittent rainfall during this period, there is a possibility of snowfall on late Thursday and Friday in the plains as well.
