Altaf Bukhari criticises Mehbooba Mufti for Article 370 demand

Srinagar, Feb 17: J&K Apni Party chief Syed Altaf Bukhari today criticized the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti by calling her a “thief”, stating he was feeling ‘ashamed of himself for standing with a person who plundered resources of erstwhile state for her personal gains.’

As per news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Mr Bukhari, while addressing party workers from Bijbehara, Kupwara and other places at his Srinagar office, said that ‘he couldn’t sleep for the whole night after reading the statement of Ms Mehbooba wherein she claimed that PDP was not for restoration of statehood but article 370’.

“I want to ask her how one can bring back 370 without restoration of Statehood. She wants this place to remain as backward, by opposing statehood what does she want to prove,” he said.

Mr Bukhari, who was a cabinet minister during PDP-BJP regime, said that she was opposing the statehood at the behest of PAGD.

“I wonder whether you deserved the respect we gave you at one point of time. And irony is that she opposed statehood at a place which is just 50 kms away from the other side of Kashmir where two families are divided just because of leaders like her”, he said.

Mr Bukhari said that one of the PDP leaders is a master in narrating “Ram Katha.” “Are we supposed to tell Ram Katha to people who are suffering or we should work towards mitigating the sufferings of people?,” he said, adding that “Perhaps she (Mehbooba) is trying to hide her illegal assets and properties. —(KNO)
