NTTA and State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) provide aid to needy

ZT News Network

Srinagar: In continuation to the joint initiative of NTTA and State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) to provide essential ration kits to those needy persons living in water bodies, who have been facing lot of hardships due to the freezing of waters in lakes etc, a joint team of SEOC and Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) distributed food kits among the affected families today. The distribution was done in presence of Aamir Ali, Chairman Institution of Engineers & Nodal Officer State Emergency Operation Centre Srinagar along with his team in Dal lake, today.

NTTA expressed their gratitude to the Nodal Officer and his team, as well as volunteers of Kashmir Welfare Trust for their help and support. The trust has been providing rations throughout the Kashmir valley after identifying needy families. Today, nearly 100 families were provided rations and other essential items including face masks, cooking oil, chilli powder, atta, meat, tea, salt and sanitary items.

Pertinently, NTTA has joined hands with State Emergency Operation Centre for delivery of emergency rations and medicines for the needy houseboat owners and tourists due to freezing of water bodies.

With the minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar, that has gone below freezing point, and touched below -8°C. There are reports that many water bodies have frozen and it has been observed that people or tourists staying in houseboats have been facing lot of difficulties as moving on the thin layer of ice could be very risky.

Keeping it in view Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) in collaboration with Kashmir Welfare Trust has joined hands with State Emergency Operation Centre to provide assistance by way of providing food-kits and emergency Medicines to those (whether locals or tourists) who are staying in houseboats and are unable to move due to the sub zero temperatures and freezing of waters in Dal Lake & Nigeen Lake.
