As Kashmir reports 14 Covid19 deaths in 2 days, winter concerns rise

Ziraat Times Team Report

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday informed that 6 more Covid19-related deaths had happened in the last 24 hours in Kashmir. With these latest fatalities, the number of Covid-related deaths in two days in Kashmir region has risen to 14, with 8 reported fatalities on Sunday.

These latest fatalities come in the backdrop of global concerns that Covid19 might be getting more contagious and fatal for the more intense winter conditions. Kashmir is bracing for a colder and snowy weekend, heralding an early and intense winter.

Many health experts are worried that considering that many Covid positive people are home quarantining and there are regular deaths happening outside of hospital settings, the actual number of Covid19 deaths might be actually higher.

Pertinetly, as northern plains in India get cooler with more air pollution, there has been an upsurge in the reported cases in Delhi as well, with record 7500 cases being reported over the weekend.

A major global upsurge has been reported in several cold countries including colder northern half of the United States, Scandinavia and other European countries like the UK, France, Germany and Italy.

Meanwhile, 492 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 206 from Jammu division and 286 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 99844. One fatality has been reported from Jammu division and 6 from Kashmir Division.

Meanwhile, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Monday has asked the government to pay attention to creating facilities for post Covid health complications of patients, in view of the rising cases of post-Covid cardiac, neurological and respiratory complications among people in Kashmir.
