ZT NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar: SKUAST-K scientists, on the call of SKUAST-K Scientists and Teachers Association (SSTA), continue to observe a complete pendown strike for the second consecutive day at different faculties, Research Stations, KVKs and other constituent units of SKUAST-Kashmir as per the calendar issued by SSTA.

The protest calendar was issued by the Association against the lackadaisical approach of university administration in ameliorating the various problems faced by the scientist fraternity.

According to the President, SSTA, Prof. S.A. Dar ‘after they failed to convince university administration in addressing the problems of scientist fraternity the association was forced to call for the protest programme’.

“Today our pendown protest ended and from tomorrow we have asked the scientist fraternity to wear black bands on left wrist as mark of protest against the callous approach of University Administration” he added.

Dar further said that “The protest will continue for a week as per the calendar issued by the executive body of the association among the various constituent units of the university through their elected representatives”.

“Immediate settlement of the pending CAS cases, timely release of salary of KVK scientists, release of CAS Arrears, one man-one post, rotation of divisional heads, uploading University council decisions on university website, removing Pay anomaly of ASWO’s, release of 16% HRA in favour of Veterinary Faculty Shuhama, release of 5 advance increments for newly recruited scientists. The rationalization of the supporting staff to strengthen different faculties” are some of the issues that the association have been pressing for the immediate implementation without any delay” he added.

Professor Dar appealed the scientific fraternity not to succumb to the pressure tactics of the university administration and continue to protest in a disciplined and peaceful manner without affecting the routine work.
