Advisor Sharma discusses post-Lakhanpur toll scenario with J&K industries

SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K.K Sharma today said that the Government is aware of problems being faced by the local Industries in view of the ongoing pandemic and certain interventions like the recently announced package have been undertaken in order to relieve them of the distress.


The Advisor was interacting with the representatives of Industries of Jammu and Kashmir Divisions through Video Conferencing here today to discuss and assess the impact on the local Industry post abolition of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur.


The meeting was also attended by Financial Commissioner Finance, Arun Mehta, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Directors of Industries Jammu, Kashmir Anu Malhotra, Mehmood Shah, General Manager JK Cements Manzoor Hussain and Other senior Officers.


While listening to the suggestions put forth by the representatives, the Advisor said that the interventions being done and those in the offing would largely address the industrial distress and also provide the much needed succour to the local industries which have suffered like other parts of the country due to the global corona pandemic.


The Advisor said that the Atam Nirbhar Bharat Package announced by the Central Government would also address majority of the issues of the Industries besides the Government of Jammu and Kashmir would also pitch in with its efforts. He said that the industrial sector in the Union Territory is as vibrant as in other parts and the necessary measures would be undertaken to ensure its catalyzation.


While responding to demands of the industrial bodies with relation to the new industrial policy, the Advisor said that the necessary exercise is underway and it would soon be formulated. He said that it would be in tune with the new trends and would be taking care of the concerns and demands of the local industry and aspiring entrepreneurs.
