KVK Nyoma (Leh-II) gets first prize for performance at North Zone level

Srinagar: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nyoma (Leh-II), which was established in October, 2013, has been awarded first prize at zonal level in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) award ceremony held at its headquarter, New Delhi.

A press release received to Ziraat Times said that Narendra Singh Tomar (Union Agriculture Minister, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare), Sh. Purshotam Rupala (Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare), Sh. Kailash Choudhary (Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare) and Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra (Director General, ICAR) were present in the award ceremony. The award ceremony was organized in the virtual mode.

There are 69 KVKs in this zone comprising of states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and UTs of J&K and Ladakh. Last 5 years performances of KVKs were reviewed by ICAR and KVK Nyoma (Leh-II) was awarded first prize along with KVK Amritsar.

“Prize money of Rs. 3.75 Lakh will be awarded to KVK, Nyoma for its overall activity and development. KVK Nyoma is located at an altitude of 13900 ft and has done exemplary work in the field of vegetable cultivation, agriculture production, fodder production and animal sector in the last 5 years. Farmer outreach programme has increased manifold in Changthang region. On 7th of July, 2020, this KVK has also got best presentation award in the Zonal Conference at Ludhiana held in virtual mode”, a statement issued said today.
