Admin forms panel for investigation of cyber-crimes in J&K

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday constituted a six-member high- level panel for ‘effective investigation’ of cyber-crimes in the Union Territory.

According to an official order, additional director general of police (Criminal Investigation Department has been nominated as chairman of the committee. ADGP (hqrs.) PHQ, IGP, Jammu Zone, IGP (Crime), J&K, IGP Kashmir Zone and Director, FSL have been appointed as its members.

The committee will work to delineate the jurisdiction of various wings of police in regard to investigation of cyber crimes to avoid any overlap or duplication.

It will also finalize the criteria and procedure for transfer of cases and devise appropriate procedures for making optimum use of available equipments and analysis tools, to assess the requirement for up-gradation of infrastructure/equipments and measures to meet the same with due prioritization thereof, keeping in view the existing schemes initiatives/directives, to conduct Training Need Analysis (INA) and prepare plans for capacity building of human resources thereupon, the order further said.

The  committee shall submit its recommendations within a month’s time, the order states. —(KNO)
