Baldev Singh is new Chairman of PHDCCI Kashmir Chapter, Chaya honored as mentor

Srinagar: Baldev Singh Raina, a prominent businessman from J&K, has been appointed as the new Chairman of PHDCCI Kashmir Chapter.

The immediate former Chairman of Kashmir chapter Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya was appointed by PHDCCI National President Dr. D K Aggarwal as “Mentor” for the Kashmir Chapter.

Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo and Arshad Nizam Shawl were appointed as Co-Chairman of Kashmir Chapter and Showkat Ahmad Choudhary was proposed as Co-Chairman for the ensuing year.

The appointments have come at the Annual Executive Committee Meeting of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir Chapter held at Srinagar today. The appointments were conferred by Dr. D.K.Aggarwal, National President PHDCCI.

While welcoming the new chairman, Mushtaq Chaya said that, “I have been involved with the PHD Chamber for several years and I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate everyone’s support who has invested their faith in PHDCCI. I personally extend by vote of thanks to everyone involved with the Chamber for supporting me through every thick & thin. The Chamber has been a great resource in every regard, helping us to explore the future & be better able to cope with the problems we face in common. The mutuality of our problems is a blessing in disguise and I believe our strength is our unity. With this mantra I have been involved with this prestigious Chamber for several years. For me, giving up the Chairmanship was a very tough decision especially after the love, respect & support I have received by the PHDCCI Family. But I am very content that the Chamber is being governed by even more capable leader. Baldev Singh has impeccable leadership quality that is unmatched in every sense & we invest our faith in him. He is the son-of-the-soil who has done a remarkable job with his business, taking it to another heights in just 10 years & we believe he will do the same for the Chamber. Also I propose Mr Showkat Chaudhary as new Co-Chairman, prominent Businessmen of the valley whose name does not need any introduction & is a very dear friend of mine. He has been associated with the Chamber closely & I wish him all the luck for all the endeavours”.

Also speaking at the meet, Co-Chairman PHDCCI Kashmir Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo said, “Personally, I am in debt to our Mentor Mr. Chaya for being a Friend, Philosopher and Guide in Life. I also congratulate our new Chairman Baldev Singh who is a well deserving for such a designation. He is leading light of a big Organisation in Kashmir and he accepting to be our Chairman is our honour. Also I would take the opportunity to welcome Mr. Chaudhary for being proposed as new Co-Chair of PHDCCI Kashmir.”

He said that PHDCCI Kashmir Chapter will continue to meet the needs of business & industry in order to build a healthy business environment & the Chamber is making efforts on various grounds to coupe up with the turmoil and the economic challenges it has posed.

On embarking the role of Chairman of PHDCCI Kashmir, Baldev Singh Raina said, “It is my distinct honour to embark upon the role as Chairman of Kashmir Chapter of PHD Chamber. I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the fantastic achievements of Shri Mushtaq Chaya and his tenure as Chairman in PHDCCI Kashmir. He is a great business leader and a true role model. We will need his support and expertise in facing these troubled times. In the coming year, Chamber, staff and I would like our members to know that we will continue to represent you to the highest standard. We will continue to support, promote and protect all of the business interests. We will ensure that the matters impacting you are heard by the highest officials of Government and together, with your support, we will instigate positive changes.”

Raina further said that every effort would be made to strengthen the organization further particularly in Kashmir region and to act as a bridge between industry, people and business community and will act vigorously in these harsh times for the development of the Kashmir region and will project the genuine matters at the genuine level in harmony with other local chambers of J&K. Raina added that the Chamber will also work hard to ensure that this Region continues a path for improvement and development for all and it will be ensured that enough job avenues will be created for the youth of Kashmir under new setup of reorganization of state in Union territory. We will also continue to speak out on the important issues that impact us all. In the end I thank every member & staff of PHD Chamber most generously, individually & collectively.

Also present in the meeting were Showkat Chaudhary, Jaan Mohammad Kaul, Tariq Rashid Ghani, Nasir Shah, Qaisar Mir, Shahi Jehan, Manzoor Ahmad, Adnan Shah, Babar Chaudhary, Imaad Rafi Mir, Maroof Kapra, Iqbal Fayaz Jan Regional Director of PHDCCI and other members of PHDCCI Kashmir.
